life goes on at the 20th avenue

Its been a long couple of months.  A complete bathroom remodel, the unwelcomed take-down of some 80-year-old backyard trees, and some really sad things happening to lots of folks we know has made it a bit tough lately.

But finally last weekend and the one before, we did nothing but have a good time. Summer has arrived early here in the Pacific Northwest, and when coupled with birthdays, holidays, visits with good friends, and imminent vacations, all is good once again.  Its been fun, so I figured I would share some of our latest adventures.

PS.  With the bathroom being done, that means we are also DONE with our house!  We have one teeny-tiny thing to finish, so no pictures yet - but look soon for another post!

Old Crow Medicine Show concert at the Zoo - one of our favorite summertime activities.

The birthday girl and friends for the zoo picnic and tunes.

Birthday present for my girl - a tray for the tub to chill in a bubble bath (bonus: this is your sneak peak of the new bathroom!)

Seattle's Pride Parade, and these ladies were the grand marshalls.  Been together for decades, and were the first couple to get married when WA State approved gay marriage earlier this year.  Absolutely fantastic.

Best part of the parade was the endless number of churches showing their support.  And the strongest showing?  The Lutherans!  Couldn't have been prouder of my Christian roots.

Beating the heat at our first Sounders game - Seattle's soccer team!

The Sounders are the best supported team in professional American soccer.

4th of July wouldn't be the same without a flag cake!  AJ made this one and we got to spend the holiday with our old friends Simon and Faith.  Hadn't seen them in months.

Our good friends bailey and JT - who are newly minted Californians - came for a visit!  They are winos too, so we took them to taste some WA wines.

After a few glasses....

Even though our backyard is now deforested, we still enjoy having folks over for a bbq and fire - especially when the temps are well into the 80s.  True summer.

This hike is 45 minutes from our house - one of the reasons I love living here.

The destination - Snowe Lake.

A and J in the hinterlands...

The sockeye run has been the best in years - so we went to check them out at the locks.

Fishes up close!

And of course, what weekend is complete without a wine taste test?

A deeply complentative JJ, practicing his sniffing skillz.
